Es genial la tecnica y el poder escribir el blog desde mi coche, mientras
voy escuchando “ilusionistas y magos” de La Habitacion Roja y pensando que
su viaje a Chicago del 2004 valio la pena. Ahora, con quince dias en
Noruega en plan sencillo, les ha salido un disco de estribillos magneticos
y brillo dulce en el sonido, por la fuerza de las guitarras y el bajo,
suavizadas con coros que van y vienen del paisaje. Son muy buenos aunque
reciban tantas criticas de los que se dicen criticos.

Festival Cultura Pop en Madrid

La última semana de marzo primera de abril, como queráis, se celebra en Madrid el I Festival Cultura Pop. Según dicen sus organizadores, pretende ser un punto de encuentro para todos aquellos que nos interesa no sólo la música POP, sino todas las actividades artísticas cuya temática gira alrededor de ella: cine, cómic, teatro, vídeo, diseño, fotografía… Durante estas jornadas, queremos ayudar a difundir una pequeña parte de la enorme producción creativa de los artistas independientes de este país. En el terreno puramente musical, desde CulturaPOP nos gustaría recuperar el POP (con mayúsculas) frente a la apropiación que del término ha hecho la industria discográfica para etiquetar sus consumibles. También nos gustaría revindicar sus componentes de frescura, energía y amplitud estilística frente a la insustancialidad a que determinados movimientos independientes lo han pretendido reducidir. Y dejar claro algo que muchos ya sabíamos:El POP es cultura.

Se celebra en la zona de San Blas, en el centro cultural Miguel de Cervantes, y es gratis!!!

Precioso, maravilloso, especial, inconcebible, llegué tarde y me quedé enganchado hasta el final. Y qué final. Y qué principio. Y qué desarrollo. Rufus tiene un chorro de voz y lo sabe. El Frank Sinatra del indie modernillo? Mucho mucho más. Rufus tiene fans, por cierto merecidos, y lo sabe (un saludo a las tres chicas de la tiara). Los que no fuistes, id a verle a la próxima. Ah, esta foto es de los bises y me la ha regalado una amiga. Por lo menos se aprecia lo original en la propuesta...pero no os voy a contar lo que pasó:-)

Que conste que esta crónica es de María!!

El viernes 11 la sala Aqualung de Madrid se lleno de sorpresas desde que se abrieron las puertas de la segunda fase del wintercase , a las ocho de la tarde, una larga cola de fans estaban esperando a ver a sus estrellas. Conciertos para toda clases de publicos, amantes de Supergrass, Ian brown y I am kloot ,la sala estaba llena de gente que había venido de todas partes.

El ambiente se iba caldeando poco a poco ,nada mas pasar por la puerta y con el tiempo justo para pedir una cerveza , comenzaron a tocar “I am kloot”con un tema de su primer disco “Natural history”,banda formada en Manchester en 1999 con John Bramwell a la guitarra y voz , Peter Jonson al bajo y Andy Heargreaves a la bateria ,etiquetados como NAM “New Acoustic Movement”,seducen con la oscura voz de Bramwell , que iba bastante contento, un concierto anecdotico el de esta banda , pues era el cumpleaños de su bajista Peter al que todos felicitamos con un gran “happy birthday to you” ,y como ya se sabe en los cumpleaños siempre hay que brindar,y si es con buena música mejor .Despues de este tremendo desayuno,el público estaba hambriento, algo muy jugoso se estaba cociendo.

Con una luz oscura ,como jinete en su caballo , aparecio vestido con un sombrero de cowboy Gaz coombes , cantante de Supergrass, con una acústica en sus manos venia a regalarnos un intimo momento, de manera paulatina se iban reuniendo los demas componentes del grupo para formar una banda.Trasformando canciones como St.Petesburg del ultimo disco “Road to rouen” en acústica y suprimiendo el piano , con ese estilo despreocupado y juvenil que tanto los caracteriza. Pudimos sentir como el concierto iba in crecendo , y a partir de “moving” del disco de 1999 “supergrass”,el suelo retumbaba en todos los estribillos de todas las canciones que sonaron, pasando por “I should coco”, “mary” , “In it for the Money” , faltaron temas como “ Sad Grie all right”,pero no se echaron de menos, al que si echamos de menos fue al bateria Danny Gofey ,que acababa de tener un hijo. Y como buenos chef , nos sirvieron el postre “grace” , ¿Qué más se podia pedir?. Al finalizar el concierto no cabía un alma ,más vale que no te movieras , sino era para irte.

Con esos aires del Bronx, entro Ian brown, vestido con una chaqueta ancha ,unas gafas cubriendo la mitad de su cara ,y andando y cantando como si fuera un rapero. Vino dando leña con “made of stone” Y “waterfall” de los Stone Roses.
Provocador e impredecible se paseo por las tablas ,haciendo gala a la exaltación de sus fans con temas como “my star”,y acompañado de trompeta cantó “time is my everything” demostrándonos su sensibilidad y dulcura vocal, nos dio de todo , momentos mas sensibles comio con “Fear”, y otros más movidos , todos llenos del fervor que desprendían el cantante y su público. Para terminar a la 23:40 dejándonos con la duda de si éste iba a ser el final , pero pronto se encendieron las luces , para callarnos con un bis.

Porque puede ver a The Go Betweens en plena forma. Y sobre todo a Teenage Fanclub que empezaron con clásicos ("Start again"). Siguieron con nuevas, y fue un placer ver a la gente asentir y sonreir a "It´s all in mi mind" y "Slow fade pictures", así que...prueba superada. Cerraron otra vez con viejas glorias renovadas. Cada vez suenan más acristalados y la verdad que todo estuvo muy bien,y lo pasamos mejor. Pero creo que nos hubiera gustado más volver a casa con los oídos llenos de lija además de forrados de terciopelo. Por ejemplo, el final con "Everything flows" a puntito de explotar. Traed un poco más ruido el año que viene, Norman, por favor. De todas maneras, que quede clarito que para mí seguís siendo la referencia. Muy alta.

Ayer estuve en el concierto de oasis y me lo pasé fenomenal. Y eso que fuí solo. Liam canta de miedo, todas las canciones como si fuera la última; lo malo es que solo entiendo su inglés cuando canta. Y yo le encontré majete y con ganas de caer bien. El sonido no fue tan brillante como esperaba, y las canciones antiguas las tocaron un poco en plan rockero y tatatá, pero es una delicia corear Live Forever con los Gallaguer. Lo peor, el sonido de los bises y que veía poco a Noel porque estaba demasiado escorado. Repetiría el concierto siete veces seguidas. Creo que me gustan demasiado estos chicos, será porque sus canciones me traen muy buenos recuerdos. Ah, el disco no está nada mal. Mucky Fingers sin duda la mejor canción, aunque parezca de la velvet. Bueno, os dejo.

Mientras escribo esto, me estoy perdiendo el concierto de REM en Madrid. Hoy hacemos el programa en directo por primera vez desde el estudio nuevo de Capitán Haya. Muy bien!!

Floren en Madrid - Wintercase 2004

El jueves estuve en el Wintercase San Miguel que organizaban los de Sinammon

Me gustaron los Hope of the States. En directo ganan mucho, con tres guitarras y un violinista, todo muy eléctrico y con una intensidad, acompañada de luz blanca, que parecía que nos iba a llevar al cielo. Hubo segundos muy buenos.

Me encantaron Los Planetas. Hacía ya creo tres años que no les veía "encerrados" y en Madrid y estuvimos de viaje por toda su discografía, pero con temas que no suelen tocar en directo, según creo. Eligieron también bien los cinco o seis nuevos que tocaron. Se les vió muy tranquilitos y pasándolo bien. La gente coreaba todas las canciones y hubo ambiente de fiesta intensa. Para mí, un concierto para recordar.

Luego estuve en Barbarella viendo a Seine, pero eso es otra historia y para otro Post. Aquí solo digo que valió la pena el esfuerzo.

A ver si soy capaz de subir una foto muy chula que saqué a Floren, y que refleja muy bien el ambiente tranquilo y emotivo del concierto.
